Gideon's Stuff Check List

Below is a list I found from this website. I modified it to fit my needs and made notes of why I don't need it or why I already have it.

I'm slightly overwhelmed with all of the wonderful gifts we got at our baby shower today. Being the organizer and sorter I already washed everything and put a lot of things away. I still don't know what we need.... there are a few things for sure. I'm also trying to decide on how to organize the nursery. I know with time we'll figure things out and develop our own system.

**note our list is for newborn-6 months, we do have clothes for larger, but we'll have to buy more as he grows**

Layette:
[ x ] 4-8 bodysuits or onesies (wide head openings and loose legs) WE HAVE SOO MANY!
[ x ] 4-8 undershirts or vests (snaps at neck or wide head openings, snaps under crotch)*
[ x ] 4-8 one-piece pajamas*
[ x ] 2 blanket sleepers for winter baby
[ x ] 1-3 sweaters or jackets (front buttoned)
[ x ] 1-3 rompers or other dress-up outfits*
[ x ] 4-7 socks or booties (shoes are unnecessary until baby walks)*
[ x ] 1-3 hats (broad-brimmed for summer baby, soft cap that covers ears for winter baby)*
[ x ] No-scratch mittens
[ x ] Bunting bag or fleece suit for winter baby (not necessary for us)
[ x ] Swimsuit for summer baby (that time will come)
[ x ] Gentle laundry detergent

Nursery:
[ x ] Crib, cradle or bassinet* check the specs.
[ x ] Firm, flat mattress fit snugly in crib (less than two fingers should fit between mattress and crib)* (will be getting)
[ x ] 1-3 washable crib mattress pads
[ x ] 2-4 fitted crib sheets*
[ x ] 4-6 soft, light receiving blankets*
[ x ] 1-2 heavier blankets (for colder climates) A TON OF BLANKETS!
[ x ] Rocking or arm chair
[ x ] Music box, sound machine or CD player
[ x ] Crib mobile with black and white images (remove when baby can support self on hands and knees)
[ / ] Baby monitor, Jeremiah and I have talked about this and we don't know if we would use it. The nursery is across the hall and we won't ever leave our child unattended. So we are going to claim unnecessary at this point in time.
[ ] Nightlight, this too might not be necessary.
[ x ] Dresser
[ x ] Toy basket
[ x ] Swing or bouncy chair

Changing:
[ x ] Changing table or cushioned changing pad for low dresser or bureau, with safety strap or railing*
